[Echohun] Why Translation Agencies Are Still Used in the AI Era

As each day passes, the technological advancements of AI are rapidly progressing. Just a few months ago it was GPT3, but now it's 4.o, and there are so many AI engines being released, such as Gemini and Perplexity, in addition to GPT.

These days, when proposing services to our clients, a common response is that they don't need translation services because they are directly using AI. This is good for companies because of the improved quality and the ability to reduce expenditures.

However, there are still clients who utilize translation companies. Even large global corporations. They haven't commissioned small volumes either; they've entrusted us with projects in over 20 languages, with over a million words.

So, why are these clients still proceeding with projects with translation companies?

✅Quality: Although the performance of AI has improved, it still cannot handle perfect translations. Considering local users, it still needs to go through the hands of native speaker translators.

✅Quality Verification: No matter how global a company is, when translating into multiple languages, there are languages that cannot be handled internally. For example, if a company hasn't entered Korea yet and doesn't have Korean employees, or if the volume is large even if they do have Korean employees, they need help from a company. They must also get help from a company if it is difficult to verify the language of other countries.

✅Lack of Internal Resources: To translate a large amount of text, you need to go through a company. Internal employees already have their assigned tasks. It is unreasonable to handle translation tasks as well.

Human touch is still important and essential. Just as global companies are still getting help from translation companies, you too will need the touch of human translators.
