For overseas sales people, I would say the global mindset and open mind are really important. Especially, to make a good relationship, even if you are not familiar with speaking English, no worries. Your mindset will help you.
I am not a master of English and even sales. I have just worked as a sales manager for about 3 years. And it is my first time to join a foreign conference by myself to promote who we are and how we can help them.
In this event, I could build a really good relationship and friendship. I could meet Kassym who is the owner of Square. He has really great skills and a mind about AI tech but also philosophy. We talked a lot about not just our business and translation needs but also AI stuff and even family.
If I was just trying to explain our service and quit the conversation, I could not build a relationship. Also, even though you are not able to explain your service, it is okay. You might be able to learn other things.
Yes, a contract will be important for you. But, learning about life and human beings and knowing each other are more important, I think.
Be more open to all of them who you will meet everywhere (not to a robber ^^;;). You can get some diamonds that you didn’t expect before!
