It is the first time I've heard that language is important in the world of sales. The book says that the feeling is different depending on what words you use to speak to the customer.
The saying, 'Different words, different feelings' is just right. In the sales closing book, there's a case of a dentist. Dr. McDougall used the word 'restore' instead of 'repair', and used the expression 'schedule change' rather than 'cancel' or 'postpone'. Instead of 'waiting room', it was 'reception room', and instead of saying 'will you calculate the treatment fee', he used the expression 'will you pay for the service'.
In addition, they chose words from the customer and service perspective, such as 'Please empty your mouth' instead of 'Spit'.
Previously, I was 고민하고 about moving companies for moving. Several companies visited my house, and some companies cursed in front of me. Of course, it was a story about their employees, but even so, rude expressions should not be used in front of customers.
And like the book says, it can make the customer feel comfortable and show expertise by using the terms used in a particular industry appropriately. If you do so, the customer can trust the seller more.
This is why localization is important. As I work for a localization company, I always emphasize the importance of word and sentence translation, and this is how different it is depending on which word you choose. Thinking from the customer's point of view and proceeding with localization will be the foundation for entering overseas markets.
If you translate with words and expressions that are mainly used by locals, not just literal translation, the locals will naturally be satisfied and use the service.
Translation is mainly handled by the marketing team and the localization team. There is no better marketing tool than well-done localization. No matter how well you design and structure it, if the language you first encounter is awkward, you will feel a sense of difference and your credibility will also decrease. I hope everyone will agree that language, which seems to be the most basic, simple, and unimportant, has the power to transcend everything.
