[Ecohoon] Just My Job, Thankful for My Company

I had a meaningful meeting with my manager. It was a performance review, but also a long-term interview.

There have been difficult and stressful times since joining Alconost (알코노스트), but how can I not be grateful? In these globally challenging times, with the AI boom delivering a direct blow to the translation industry, I'm incredibly grateful to have a job, a career, and to be earning a living.

The company won't take care of me forever. But how fortunate I am to have a space that provides opportunities for growth? Some people struggle without work, fearing unemployment and giving up. People in the developing world can only dream of having a job or pursuing their aspirations. Many people would envy simply earning money.

Humans toil in suffering due to original sin, yet, as if echoing God's command to rule over the earth, we will continue to govern this world through economic activity.

At the end of the meeting, I shared my reflections, saying, "I'm so grateful that you hired me. It's an immense privilege to work as a digital nomad, unlike many other office workers, working remotely and as the only Korean, managing the Korean market while collaborating with many international colleagues."

I am thankful for the opportunity to work and earn money.
