'Without leaving the Gospel of Jesus, one can only repeat efforts, not to serve one's neighbor or to enjoy the joy that comes from doing a good job, but with the intention of succeeding and making a name for oneself.' (Book p. 138-139)
Like this, one cannot enjoy true joy without leaving the Gospel of Jesus. In the end, the reason we work hard and strive is for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Only that can give us true peace.
If we work without this awareness, we will eventually work only for ourselves. Then there is no true joy. It aligns with the biblical worldview for a person to utilize the talents received from God, choose the work they are good at, serve their neighbors, and do things that benefit them.
For example, can a person be at peace just because they have become extremely famous? I dare say no. No matter how famous you are, or how much money you have, worries and anxieties are endless. Humans are constantly thinking about how to become more famous, how to maintain this fame, and how to earn more money. The human inner self desires it, and the social environment encourages it.
As a common example, there are cases where business owners or famous entertainers who have accumulated vast wealth commit suicide. It's heartbreaking. If they had true peace, and if they had realized and enjoyed it, such unfortunate events might not have occurred.
If Jesus is not in the hearts of Christian office workers, their labor becomes nothing more than an empty shell. I also want to become extremely famous and earn a lot of money. For example, I want to become famous on LinkedIn. So, I want to give various lectures, tell impressive stories, get paid, and live like that. But I tell myself today that it's not of great benefit to me.
Even if I don't become famous like others, if I move forward faithfully in the place where I am, loving my neighbors, the peace I receive will be greater. Like the words that those who humble themselves will be exalted and those who exalt themselves will be humbled, if you work with such a heart for God, you may be exalted someday. It shouldn't be done with that expectation. The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment. When you quietly walk the path you must walk, the time may come when you will be greatly used, and even then, you must be humble and give glory to God.
