I learned the most crucial lesson from my former supervisor: "I am the most expert in our service."

I had the opportunity to give a sales presentation at a large corporation. I had very little experience with sales presentations and still needed to learn more about the product. But I was given the chance. I am grateful now, but at the time I was terrified and wanted to run away. However, I decided to just go for it, wondering when I would ever get another opportunity like this.

Ultimately, nothing disastrous happened. But that presentation gave me a huge boost in confidence and a valuable lesson. The fact that I was able to present to such capable people at a major corporation—what a great asset it became.

Before the presentation, my supervisor told me not to worry, that we were experts in our service and that the audience wouldn't know as much as we did, so I should just go for it.

That's true. The audience doesn't know our service. They may be familiar with our industry, but even if they are, they haven't studied it as much as we have, as sales representatives. We know our features best.

Even if we make a mistake, we can correct it through follow-up communication. Instead of letting a mistake stand, it's crucial to acknowledge it and strive to provide more accurate information.

Within our organization, we are the experts. To avoid letting customer reactions crush our morale, I hope that a mindset of "I am the expert" will empower us to confidently move forward.
