Last week, I wrote a post about recruiting platforms as a method for getting a job at a foreign company. Now, I will share how to utilize recruitment platforms to get a job at a foreign company.

✅ Secure quantitative indicators as much as possible
This is a point that many recruitment consultants and HR teams have already emphasized. It is best to secure and list quantitative indicators as much as possible. Quantitative indicators refer to those that can represent my performance with numbers. For example, in the case of a sales position, it would be a 10% increase in meeting success rate compared to last year, a 20% increase in sales, etc. For the finance team, it could be a 10% reduction in operating expenses, and for marketers, a 10% increase in customer engagement, etc.

People prefer to see things with numbers, and since numerical data is more intuitive, this method is good for the HR team to see our careers quickly and impactfully. We probably know subconsciously that we also prefer to see and understand things with numbers.

✅ It's okay even if there are only qualitative indicators
There may not be quantitative indicators. And it's also difficult to say that quantitative indicators always determine success or failure. In my case, I received a job offer and was hired even though I hadn't entered any quantitative indicators. Also, in the case of juniors, it may be difficult to represent their performance with quantitative indicators. You might be able to squeeze something out, but it might not be possible at all.

In that case, you should at least write down the qualitative indicators properly and in accordance with the job description. There are keyword contents for what each job does. You can find these keywords in the job postings. Usually, the same jobs have similar job contents, so the keywords are also duplicated. It's good to organize the work I've done to match those keywords well.

In the case of seniors, it may be difficult to appeal with qualitative indicators, but in the case of juniors, there is a possibility to entice HR personnel with qualitative indicators because the career period is short. But the important thing is that you should try to create quantitative indicators if possible.

✅ The industry type flow of the company I belonged to
In order to appeal myself to the HR personnel, it's good to understand the industry type and flow of the company I belonged to. In IT, there's hardware and software, and within software, there are marketing analysis solutions and marketing action solutions.

If you want to move on to a company in a related industry by looking at the industry types of your past companies, it's good to be familiar with the terms of that industry and express them in your resume.

Also, if you've moved to a completely different industry, you should organize the reasons well. The interviewer will definitely ask about this part. If you organize it well enough for anyone to understand the 'Why', it will help in the interview.

✅ Specify the contract type - intern, contract employee, full-time employee
The contract type can also work as a positive aspect. In my case, I have experienced being an intern, a direct contract employee, a dispatched contract employee, and a full-time employee. In particular, I experienced the miracle of being converted to a full-time employee from a dispatched contract employee. You can utilize this part. It shows that I was recognized by the company because I worked hard for them. You can use my diligence, competence, and excellence when changing jobs.

You might continue your career as a contract employee only. In the case of foreign companies, it's somewhat natural. Usually, foreign companies want seniors with a lot of work experience. They need to work right away and generate sales. It is relatively difficult for juniors to generate sales right away.

If you want to continue your career in a foreign company as a junior, you can't help it. You enter the industry as a contract employee and build up your skills. Then, you make achievements, and if your years of service accumulate, you can challenge for a full-time position in another company. Since it's not good if the contract period gets longer, you need to focus on your current work and show your performance and organize the performance well.

✅ Possible to get a job at a foreign company
If you organize those indicators well and write them in English, you might receive a job offer from a foreign company representative. I am working at a foreign company now. I am doing business in Korea as a member of a foreign company. It's not a common form of employment.

To exaggerate, I am playing the role of the branch manager in Korea. As the only Korean, I work with foreigners through online meetings. There are advantages to working with foreigners, such as broadening your horizons and having a flexible work style, while also improving your English skills.

What I want to emphasize most is, 'Be faithful to the present.' Even if you are dissatisfied now, if you don't work hard now, there are many difficulties when you change jobs later. You might miss good opportunities even if you want to change jobs, and you might fail because you can't fully appeal your charm. Also, you might continuously experience the frustration of not even being able to go to the interview because there are no achievements to show.

Our lives are long. Even if you don't go to a company that seems glamorous to others right now, no one knows if you will be working there tomorrow. Even if it takes 10 years, it's my life and my company.
