[Echohoon] Review of the First Step in Nexters Mentoring

Through Mr. Youngkwang Kim, whom I met on LinkedIn, I was able to meet a valuable mentoring group called Nexters. Nexters is a mentoring group operated by the Seongnam Youth Foundation. It's a time to visit high schools and provide mentoring for students' career paths.

I also conducted several mentoring sessions for high school students during my time at Soongsil University. If I did mentoring as a college student back then, now I'm mentoring as a worker of about 6 years. It feels very different. It will feel different not only for me but also for the students.

I visited Taewon High School in Seongnam as a 2025 Nexters mentoring start school. There were friends who were tired and exhausted, but I was very grateful that they laughed at the funny points and listened well.

I conducted mentoring in front of the students after a long time, and I am a stage person. In fact, I don't get nervous, but I'm happy and joyful. Because it's my dream. Helping someone with their dream is my vision, and I am indescribably happy to be able to realize it.

Of course, there are also disappointing parts. It would be nice if the students' reactions were better and if there were more questions, but as you all know, as we have experienced, it is difficult to ask questions and it is awkward to react in that period, and I know that too well. They don't have the energy to react because they are tired and exhausted from studying. Of course, it would be better if I could make them more enjoyable, but I'm sorry about that too.

The most surprising thing was that I have a younger sibling in the church I attend, and he was working as a teacher at Taewon High School! I told him that I was going to Taewon High School for mentoring, and we finally talked briefly at school. I, who am neither a pastor nor a cell leader, ended up visiting my church's younger sibling's workplace (?). It was amazing and surprising. It is clear that the Lord gave me this mission and vision, and I am happy and grateful to be able to fulfill it.

I have another school visit scheduled, and I want to continue participating in mentoring. I have a strong feeling that I am participating in mentoring for myself, but I want to think more about how to provide more valuable information and necessary help to the students than for myself. It won't be easy to get the reactions of the students, but I still want to plant a small fire about their career paths and dreams in their hearts. Because they are our dreams, hopes, and future.
