Living at the workplace is not merely about not lying and not slacking off. It is not even at the level of personally introducing Jesus and leading Bible studies. It is about reflecting on the meaning of the evangelical worldview and God's purpose for the whole of working life and the entire organization to which it reaches.
For example, the book tells the story of the CEO of Hershey's Chocolate. The CEO put in the remaining manpower into public work projects, kept employees even when the company was in economic difficulty, and planned and carried out businesses to contribute to job creation for rural farmers around them. He also established a boarding school and donated a significant portion of his shares to school institutions to enable continuous educational activities.
Another example is the story of car salesman Don Flow. He took issue with the fact that women and minorities were buying cars more expensively than whites with negotiating skills. So, he applied the same profit margin to all vehicles, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to own a car at the same cost.
I am currently working in sales at a translation company. I am pondering how I can glorify God with an evangelical worldview in my current company. I am always thinking about how I can contribute to the company and to customers, and I will do my best in the areas I can to fulfill my mission as a Christian.
